Trapezorachi Hill, Akovos

Description

On the slopes of Mount Taygetos, above the village of Akovos, rises Trapezorachi—a site of notable historical significance. From June 5 to 7, 1825, the Battle of Drampala (or Trampala) was fought here, a fierce confrontation between Greek forces and Ibrahim Pasha of Egypt. Despite their resistance, the Greeks suffered defeat, a development that temporarily strengthened Ibrahim’s position in the Peloponnese. Today, a monument and the Church of Saint Paraskevi stand at the site of the battle, preserving the memory of this pivotal moment in history.
