The Holy Monastery is located near the village of Ekklisoula, a short distance from Megalopoli in Arcadia. It is an important religious monument, distinguished for its historical and spiritual significance in the region. The Monastery is closely associated with Theodoros Kolokotronis, who undertook its restoration in fulfillment of a personal vow to the Virgin Mary, expressing his gratitude for the protection he believed he had received during the Greek Revolution. The katholikon of the Monastery is dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos and constitutes a significant religious and historical landmark of the area. Kolokotronis’ restoration played a crucial role in the preservation of the monument and strengthened its position as a center of spiritual life for the surrounding communities.
